hey ive sold one item on ebay a few weeks ago, thats my total experience, and i went to the post office to mail it. since then i got a few boxes and such... a 2nd item just sold. when i bought it a few months ago it came in a reallllly tiny box (bluetooth ear buds)
      • can i just place it in that box, print the shipping label and put that on it
      • and put in my mail box with the flag up?
      • also, it says the buyer has not paid yet, i dont know how an item can be marked as sold when the buyer hasnt paid, sorry im new to ebay selling, i have bought a few cheap items and have a bunch of stuff i dont use.
      • badon
        hi above
      • above: It's best to go to the post office to mail any packages.
      • Also, the buyer can win an auction or claim an item with Buy-It-Now, and then they pay later.
      • Usually.
      • You can set up a listings to require immediate payment, but that will reduce your sales a lot.
      • Usually it's customary for items to be paid for within 3 days or less.
      • above
        sry badon just now reading
      • ah i see yeah i had forgot about this particular auction i listed it once and it didnt sell, i posted it at a very low rate with free shipping in desparation about 3 weeks ago, he clicked buy it now.
      • ok i guess ill just send him a message saying i am able to ship and thanks for buying , will ship next bus day of payment
      • badon
above: You need to send him an invoice, I forgot to mention that.
      • After you send the invoice via ebay's invoicing system, then they usually pay pretty quickly.
      • above
this is the 3rd day exluding business days. why do you say its best to go to the post office? last time i did they charged me over $4 to send a media mail book that weighs 2 lbs coast to coast usa. ebay calculator is $3.07 after i googled the isbn and found the dimensions and weight to the location. and says it auto includes tracking to me and the other guy just like bringing to the post office
      • aye the invoice!
      • thank you!
      • badon
If you are in the USA, they are paranoid about terrorism, so they require larger packages to be sent in-person.
      • I'm not sure why the cost at the post office was higher.
      • above
i had no clue to the concept of invoices and how buyh it now integrated to end an auction
      • badon
        UK is similar.
      • above
i think it was something to do with the staff. the 2 items i bought have had very minimim light packaging, one was a book, was almost like they just wrapped it in christmas paper with a bunch of adhesives
      • and when i shipped a book with very similar dimensions to a similar zip (not the same book lol) they got a shiny usps box a little too big for the book. but yeah i am still curious about if i can mail this bluetooth in the same box it came in, its so tiny, it was very odd having it delivered here. imagine opening your mailbox to a box smaller than a rubix cube.
      • badon
I get packages like that sometimes.
      • Especially from buying on ebay.
      • I buy lots of coins on ebay, so the packages are sometimes really tiny.
      • Maybe 1/4 the size of a rubik's cube.
      • above
lol yeah im trying to find out ohw to get packaging like that
      • i want to reinvest into something that will sell when i run out of thins i do not use
      • order things from china with month + shipping
      • be patient and list it fast and free
      • are returns an often thing? i see alot of experienced sellers dont accept returns yet are listed high im assuming since i only have one good transactino so far i need to keep accepting returns for a while before i am established.
      • badon
For myself, I always accept returns. You actually get fewer returns if you say you accept returns, because there is less "buyer's remorse".
      • When people know they can't return it if they don't like it, they're much more likely to feel unhappy about it
      • Strange but true.
      • above
i screwed myself on the headphones though. i paid $17, never used them, they retail at 19. i sold for 8.25 w/ free shipping ill only see $5-6.
      • badon
        That's OK, you're building feedback.
      • above
        that is my idea
      • badon
You'll get it right next time, and the good thing is the buyer will be really happy with them, and more likely to leave positive feedback for you.

they sell for the same amount on ebay i am finding. i assumed an external would have more dmenad but it appears 500gb 2.5 hdds have more demand. only problem is i cant format the friggan thing without an enclosure or taking my new laptop apart. the old laptop was broken badly. im not very good at small hardware or id wipe this hdd by putting it in the new laptop andusing some CLI program to
      • fmt it, but it looks like i have to remove the entire back of it
      • same thing with an android i have, a fairly new phone with a broken screen, it turns on and responds to touch meaning the digitizer works, id have it sold already if i could figure out how to wipe the damn thing wihtout seeing it
      • badon
above: For some of the hard drives, they're cheaper to buy external. Then people take them out, and sell the drives individually, and sell the enclosures separately too.
      • above
is panda forex slang for chinese bullion?
      • yeah i was thinking the opposite would be profitable , im in need of a nas drive, my router has a usb just for that so i think ill buy an external for personal use
      • badon
No, not slang. The People's Republic of China (PRC) mints a series of bullion coins that have pandas on them, and so they're called pandas.
      • above
well create an external. get a 2tb hdd and an enclosure that supports 2.5 and 3.5 first wipe the hdd im going to sell then use it on a good deal 2tb hdd.
      • i see, bullion is someeting i really want to invest in.
      • badon
I make more money buying Chinese coins than on anything else I've ever done. It made my first $1 million USD that way.

various things a nintendo wii, a more exspensive bluetooth device, a mini keyboard that works on smart tvs , android, linux/windows/mac (for ppl who have media centers like plex/kodi) , shot glasses never used, minerals (doubt ill sell) , a manicure set that will not sell for shit because ebay had a mass sale of this item and the market is now over saturated, and the rest of the broken laptop,
      • i think thats all.
      • oh yeah the phone as well.
      • im too imnpuslsive in buying sales. its why im broke lol.. but if you had just $30 and intended on buying coin for immediate resell what would you go for?

so with chinese bullion you have enourmous demand because of the chinese population with the addition of global collectors and traders, the raw commodity worth, and the confidence in the rmb
      • badon
above: Yes! That's certainly true, but there's more to it, like the fact that nobody cared about them until 2003, so many of the older coins got melted and the supply is much rarer than they should be to meet demand. Imbalance in supply and demand has caused prices to rise rapidly, and it will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

like someone may be selling a coin at a low rate but no one is buying because it is his first or second item. im sure that happens often, itd be cool to have an app alert me if something matches my critereia where my criteria would be include new sellers, alert me if the item has high demand, and the item is not bulk, and selling for < 75% LOCAL ebay trending price over the past month
