shykes: there's a remote possibility that creating an account from the command line is broken at the moment. Does it work if you create an account on the index webfront then use docker login to log in?
      • jpetazzo
I'm trying to apt-get install some packages in a container in docker, but it crashes at the end of the package download ("Fetched 4651 kB in 5s (870 kB/s) " then I see the docker host prompt). Is it a known bug? I had a look at open issues and didn't find anything that looked like it
      • shykes
joffrey: see my latest comment on GH#489
      • [o__o]
Make docker compatible with the new registry: https://github.com/dotcloud/docker/issues/489
      • kencochrane
keep seeing this in the logs : ERROR: email is already associated with an account
      • shykes
        jpetazzo: anything in dmesg?
      • kencochrane: yeah that's a legitimate error :)
      • It seems that whenever a registration confirm email is sent to me, I get an empty "error: login: " message
      • btubbs has quit
      • once I follow the confirmation link, that particular error goes away
      • (currently re-trying login)
      • jpetazzo
ok, so it looks like it might be the dreaded bug. that's interesting, I hadn't seen it in action on long-running containers
      • shykes
        10 second hang
      • then Error: use of closed network connection
      • kencochrane
if you don't confirm your email address your account isn't active
      • shykes
        jpetazzo: it's always at exit/cleanup
      • kencochrane: if this is expected behavior then I would have expected a message which explained that to me
      • kencochrane
        true
      • jpetazzo
        interestingly, I think it hasn't reached exit/cleanup
      • normally, apt-get should unpack + configure the packages after downloading them
      • and it crashes right after download
      • shykes
        separately, subsequent login also failed
      • with 3 variation of errors
      • kencochrane
after you confirm email, or not
      • shykes
variation 1 "use of closed network connection"
      • yes, after I confirm
      • variation 2: Error: Get http://indexstaging-docker.dotcloud.com/v1/users/: unexpected EOF
      • each after about 10second
      • kencochrane
weird. not sure if it is from the API or docker. but I'm not seeing anything weird on docker
      • shykes
variation 3: 500 internal server error
      • kencochrane
        I mean API logs
      • shykes
I remember the 1st registry had the same "sue of closed network connection" error
      • kencochrane
the 500 is because of some connection issues with database, not sure why that just started
      • shykes
it ended up being a race condition on flask+unicorn or something like that
      • kencochrane
yeah this is different code, and not using flask or gunicorn
      • also a different error
      • this is a database connection error, the other was something else completly
      • joffrey
kencochrane: if there's a confirmation email now, do we still expect to be able to create an account from the command line? Also, do we want a confirmation email or was that just default django behavior?
      • shykes
        login succeeded
      • kencochrane
joffrey: yes, can create from both.. it wasn't default, we added it on purpose.
      • shykes
trying to push my ubuntu base
      • docker push hangs
      • kencochrane
we just need to give them a message when they login to confirm their email before account is active.
      • shykes
nothing going on for 30+ sec
      • kencochrane
Also, we need to make sure that when account isn't active we let you know better.
      • joffrey
okay, so I guess we should have some special message once the account is created from the CLI. Will add that to my todo list
      • shykes
kencochrane joffrey: I want to be able to start playing as soon as I'm registered in the CLI. Will that not be possible?
      • joffrey
shykes: deactivated progressbar for now, that's why you wouldnt see it moving
      • kencochrane
once you confirm your email, yes
      • joffrey
will add it again before we release
      • kencochrane
brb 5 min, need to check on kid
      • shykes
ok, in that case please add a clear message telling people to check their inbox for a confirmation message
      • zz_johncosta is now known as johncosta
      • joffrey: can you tell me from the logs if my upload is underway?
      • just checked tcpdump
      • no upload going on
      • it's just sitting there
      • am I the 1st person to test the new client at all?
      • eg. has anyone successfully pushed something?
      • joffrey
        I've pushed multiple repositories successfully
      • samalba has better insight on the registry logs themselves
      • shykes
        ok, trying with DEBUG=1
      • tongueroo has quit
      • trying a pull
      • "couldn't reach registry endpoint"
      • kencochrane
joffrey: samalba for an account that isn't active how about returning a HTTP 403, right now it looks like it will be a 401
      • joffrey
shykes: looks like you got denied access, not sure why :/
      • 2013-05-01 00:17:00,124 DEBUG: "GET /v1/repositories/joffrey/base/images HTTP/1.1" 401 None
      • shykes
do I need to be authenticated to pull?
      • johncosta is now known as zz_johncosta
      • joffrey
        yes
      • shykes
        why?
      • it's less convenient if I need to login before pulling a base image
      • and it breaks the behavior of the current registry
      • joffrey
        i agree
      • shykes
that said, for my immediate problem, I was properly logged in
      • so there's another problem
      • ah, it worked this time
      • This time I got the beginning of a pull
      • then it failed with "use of closed network connection"
      • pasting the full output to gh#489
      • [o__o]
Make docker compatible with the new registry: https://github.com/dotcloud/docker/issues/489
      • joffrey
ok, definitely not seeing the same things
      • shykes
note that this is with DEBUG=1
      • ah, tried a 3d time, got a 3d error
      • "lzma: corrupted inut data"
      • kencochrane
are you guys using the same version of docker?
      • shykes
        Git Commit: 957c686
      • joffrey
        same
      • shykes
4th try gives me "use of closed network connection" again
      • well, good luck with those race conditions :)
      • let me know if you need me to test some more

      • joffrey
alright, I'm using 1.0.3 so that shouldn't make much of a difference
      • shykes
which itself is built from the official dockerbuilder container
      • joffrey
        ok
      • it's getting pretty late here but I'll take a look at it first thing tomorrow
      • shykes
