so i discovered that this legacy project is using post-migrate signal to load initial data… thoughts?

i was going to tell someone off but thought there might be a good reason … so asking here

I use migrations to load initial (required) data.

yep this is required initial data

Because post-migrate would run each time you migrated, so you'd need to make sure your data insertion doesn't result in duplicates.

And what if the initial data objects had been changed (and needed to stay changed), they might be reverted when you next apply migrations.

Oh poop. Postgres `SELECT * INTO ... FROM ...` doesn't keep indexes. Of course not, why would it?
