whats the recommended way of importing a custom User model in a module?

get_user_model()

unless you need it at import time and are not on 1.11+. then you need AUTH_USER_MODEL

with the new user model in django 1.10, the username max_length constraint was updated to 150 characters. when running a makemigrations, I end up with a migration that is dropping fk constraints, altering the username field, and then recreating the constraints. is this a bug?

how am I supposed to load polls? I'm following the tutorials step by step.

just type in localhost:8000/polls/ in your address bar

it's 2018. there's gotta be something far smarter than this for producing web apps.

if you pass an explicit path, that's where manage.py will end up, so it's /home/docker/code/app/manage.py

only if you don't pass a path, it'll create a <project_name> directory in the current directory where it'll put everything
