Is it possible to use a generic view that would be like a DetailView and CreateView combined, meaning some fields would be displayed (just as text, not in form elements) while a few specified fields would be rendered as form inputs that would save on submit?

use two views, display form on detail view

you mean do like form.as_p in my details.html ?

Ok so then I need also create a specific forms.Modelform (?) object with just the fields I want in forms.py , and specifiy just the fields I want to simply display as text in the DetailView

klys, You shouldn't be using the distro-supplied Django package in any event. Use virtualenv or pipenv to isolate your project's site-packages from the distro's site-packages. Don't pip install globally.
