recently when writing my own asset pipeline tool I found at least one glaring flaw

anyway... in some reasearch, I've found there are basically 2 build flows for assets

either (a) a new file is created by processing a bunch of source files explicitly [i.e. combining and minifing JS/css]

or (b) a new file is created by compiling a source file, which imports its deps

never had to _compile_ some asset

scss and less require compiling

I do use SASS, but ok, go on

so the two problems I found with staticfiles and my "mangle" tool

staticfiles copies everything to the destination, and THEN calls post-processing

mangle has, currently, no way to work in development

the object has an field "author"

in my dpaste I show the check I would use

then just filter by author=request.user in the get_queryset

what if it comes up None

then they get a 404

i'd rather send a warning message
