Hi everyone, hoping I can get some advice regarding using reverse relationships with GeoQuerySet.distance(geom, **kwargs) documented in https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.6/ref/contr.... I keep getting a TypeError: ST_Distance output only available on GeometryFields. I have created a short example scenario to communicate my problem:
Are reverse relationship lookups possible with the field_name parameter of the distance() method.
Thanks in advance for any input. I appreciate it.

is the first argument to render() always just 'request' or are there situations where it would be something else

It's always request.

interesting. if it's always there and always required, why isn't it hidden? or does programming just not work that way (beginner here)

In order for it to be 'hidden', the request object would have to be a global, and that's bad.

i guess what i meant is the shortcut could be made more 'magical' but it's already magical eno ugh to be over my head so i'm certainly not complaining =P

Is anyone around familiar with using overide_settings and/or messing with settings in tests? I'm wondering if it's safe to use an empty @override_settings() decorator on a test case and then del a setting or if I have to worry about resetting all the original settings once the test case finishes.
