Yeah but the best use case for me is preliminary irc bouncer and then some other computation platform

compare Matrix to email. people will all be registered to different servers, and the servers are the ones talking to each other

but 1 Matrix room can be connected to multiple IRC networks at the same time

the code is the same for all network, it just happens these are oficially hosted by matrix devs

so that way you can talk on Freenode with people from Snoonet if you wanted too
