josuebc: yes, in a crude way

the bootstep installs a timer to checks if the worker is handling some requests

if the worker is not working on something for a number of ticks, it stops

not as instantaneous as I would like but good enough for now

I'm kinda confused on how they work:

Is task_postrun called even when a task fails, or only task_failure?

and similar to that, is task_prerun/task_failure/task_postrun called when a task is going to be retried?

or only task_retry?

task_postrun should run no matter what

EvaSDK: That's a very interesting problem to solve. Would you mind if I ask why the need of having a worker shutdown after all messages are done? To use less resources?

josuebc: actually the tool is supposed to be run as utility fonctions hooked to a django interface on one side

so no need for these changes there as there will be permanent workers

but on the other side, it needs to be run on command line

think of it as an ab/siege tool

just integrated to a web interface on one side and running on the command line on the other

Ah, so it's more like a "consume tasks from queue" button. Then when it's done you want that to go away since it's not an actual worker. Got it.
