we're seeing some very strange errors getting logged by celery

Task path.to.our.celery.task[009f14ad-8407-4c88-ad3c-719972b296cb] INTERNAL ERROR: TypeError('retry() takes exactly 1 argument (0 given)',)

and that's from self.retry() ? are you using task classes?

its weird, we're not exactly sure where its coming from, the stack trace doesn't seem to correspond to the error

we are using a task class

let me get you a stack trace

probably you are calling class.retry instead of instance.retry

we're using bind=True in the task decorator, and then just calling self.retry with some arguments

I'm setting up celery and following the tutorial, created a tasks.py, using celery like this:

app = Celery('tasks', backend='django://', broker='django://')

Then start the celery proces, it loads, then quits with no error message at all, even with level debug.. Any idea's?

FYI, without backend='django://', it runs fine...

hmm I guess it's not possible with django as a backend.. finally found a document that states the options, would've been "database" but Django seems unsupported.

How do I know that a task is finished? is there a message posted on the queue?

nicolash: that depends on the result backend used

the rpc backend is really the only sensible amqp based result backend to use

there's a reply to field that decides the queue to send the reply
