benedikt93: Hi, thanks anyway. I figured that singleton imports (because I have a huge directory where I simply threw all the files) don't download cover art. I think it should download cover art even then... Don't know what am I missing.

shreyansh_k: I guess the thing is that singletons by definition (I think) don't belong to an album, and album covers are the only type of artwork that beets can search for right now. Album covers are matched, depending on the art source by album name, ASIN, or the release and releasegroup musicbrainz IDs which are not available for singletons and fetchart will therefore only loop through the albums, not individual tracks when seraching for art

Guys, beets autotagger identifies correct album but incorrect track, how do I tell it the correct track during import?

it's seems i can't manually input the track name/number during import

how do I select a different release after I've already imported an album

import it again with -L

Hrm.

`beet convert` does fine with the actual conversion part, but it doesn't clean up old files, and that's where a lot of the complexity in my existing script comes from

So perhaps I'll just keep using the script I have.

i wonder, how hard would it be to get the functionality of `beet import` to be an API that returns the 'imported' songs rather than storing them into a database?

basically, i want the album detection beets, but i have my own database already and can't really work with beets'

just write the DB, and copy info over

and it's open source… add a storage driver / or a custom python DB driver for your own database

beets has a "metadata only" mode

thought of that, but i'd rather not
