devster31: V0 and V2 are actually pretty hard to detect (although it's in progress—take a look at the GitHub issues). But you can certainly use the `inline` plugin, for example, to only put the bitrate into the filenames for lossy music.
      • Hmm; I wish HazWard were still here… they should know about AURA!
      • devster31
sampsyo I think I found a snippet to approximate it, it's not perfect but seems to work, with inline plugin: https://bpaste.net/show/cc8a0f31d109
      • it seems to work decently
      • sampsyo
Yeah, that should do an imperfect-but-workable job
      • devster31
also mediainfo has sometimes the encoder options, that might be parseable with a similar method
      • I'm having issues replacing quotes in the file names, should I open an issue on github?
      • sampsyo
Sure—or, if it's more of a general question than a specific report, our Discourse is good for that too.
      • (There's also been a fair amount of discussion about quotes and stuff recently there, FWIW.)
      • devster31
it's too bad Python doesn't support unicode char classes, they make it so much easier
      • yep, discourse folks seem to already have found a solution
      • still no idea why YAML has '''' syntax but whatever

sampsyo: Hey I heard about AURA but it feel like it does tie closely with beets
      • and I'm not a huge fan of Javascript
      • The project is exactly what I'm looking for but there's also not a lot of traction
      • Mattiaslndstrm: About organizing your iTunes library I not 100% sure what your trying to accomplish is possible
      • The best approach would be to organize everything with beets and just import the files into iTunes but that a lot of work for you

HazWard Thank you for answering! Because iTunes is storing the tags in another location than the file?
      • HazWard
Mattiaslndstrm: Unfortunately I can't really tell you how iTunes stores tags. I stopped using iTunes a long time ago, now I use beets to manage my library and upload everything to Google Play Music using gmusicapi. I can then just download my songs from any device I have
      • Mattiaslndstrm
HazWard: That's an interesting solution! I use an iPod to play my music while on the go though, so if I manage to organise my collection, iTunes will be convenient.
      • HazWard
Mattiaslndstrm: what generation is the iPod because I'm using a 4th gen iPod with Google Play Music and it's great I never have to use iTunes
      • iPod touch
      • Mattiaslndstrm
HazWard: It's an iPod classic, so no internet access.
      • HazWard: Googling with a bit more care it seems like I can update my library from the files.
      • HazWard
But iTunes doesn't import files automatically
      • Mattiaslndstrm
HazWard: I mean updating all the files I already have in my library. What were you thinking?
