is there a way to bypass the autotagger and directly type in a artist an album to search for (the E option if autotagger doesnt match)?

my main issue is importing of 'collection' albums with a lot of cds takes multiple hours with 1 cpu core at 100%, was looking for a way to speed it up

as i know the album and only want the metadata to be fetched for me

RoXX: why not just use `beet import foo/` ?

just let it run a few mins, beets is using threads so it asks u questions faster

i use beet import but it takes hours for these 40disc collections before it precedes to asking the questions

yeah currently i'm importing the Jonny Cash - The Complete Columbia Album Collection and it's currently at 1.5h in and evaluating the 6th of 16 candidates

files folders would be arists/album/cd/song for the stuff I'm importing

I'm not using the fromfilename plugin if thats the one you mean, filename is tracknr - title.extension

you could try to delete all id3 tags for these files, i guess beets would be faster than as it isnt finding any meta data and skips to the question u want

Trying to finish up my config, looking for some help with one item. I've noticed that beets replaces most special characters such as ? and : with and underscore. I've read the section on "replace" but am a bit confused on how to set that up. Any pointers?

so is it possible to override the default settings to remove the ? and : from being replaced?

sure m4k10, you just have to remove the : and ? from the 4th line in the example (http://beets.readthedocs.org/en/latest/referenc...)

but it wont work if you are on windows and mess with windows clients if you are sharing your music directory

do i need to store .config/beets/library.db and state.pickle? i have them in my dotfiles

state.pickle seems useless

and library.db always looks the same
