#beets

Hi! Back to using beets after not doing so for half a year ;)

What's a good workflow when I want to import lots of albums which aren't on discogs? When I last did that, I used a tag editor and told beets to use the files as-is, but that wasn't really a good workflow (also, e.g. http://beets.readthedocs.org/en/latest/plugins/... doesn't do anything when using as-is)

The-Compiler: beets uses primarely musicbrainz

discogs is only used when you enable the plugin

and if albums aren't on MB, I would recommend adding them

and I'm not going to stop listen to good albums just because they aren't mainstream enough to be on MB ;)

a workmate of mine tried that, and all his stuff got either ignored or downvoted by some admin (despite being good, with source links posted, and others upvoting it)

so it seems like a waste of time to me

I can't speak for his experience. Mine is the opposite, every edit I have made is applied

The-Compiler: There are no admins per se (there are some admins for various things, but they're not relevant to the voting process at all), so that can't have happened.

Even with auto editors in the mix, MB's voting system is an incredibly flat one.

If you have questions with regards to editing in general or something specific, there are also a bunch of people willing to help and provide feedback in #musicbrainz :)
