hello
14:05 PM
sampsyo: happy 4th!
14:05 PM
sampsyo: have you guys changed from sqlite + custom ORM to sqlalchemy or similar yet?
14:06 PM
That would be nice as sqlite really should only be used for dev or small things and doesn't handle over 10,000 song entries well
14:12 PM

meh 10,000 records isn't that much
14:29 PM
sec^nd
ThomW: Its probably way more, sqlite is just extremly slow at it

ThomW
hm I'm having no trouble at all

Those are my states from subsonic
14:30 PM
ThomW
subsonic isn't really reliable in my experience
14:31 PM
beet stats takes 2.8 seconds, but that isn't too suprising since it does sum up everything
14:31 PM
sec^nd
its better for me compared to beets because beets uses sqlite which is slow, not sure what subsonic uses but its probably relational
14:31 PM
ThomW
subsonic uses Hbase
14:31 PM

querying is the problem

756.23 GB (~ 2,311 hours)
14:33 PM
why isn't beets relational though?
14:33 PM
DjSlash
ThomW: might be due that machine being a P4 :)
14:33 PM
ThomW
lol
14:33 PM
sec^nd
its using a relational database with relational data
14:33 PM
ThomW
DjSlash: gl with your energy bill
14:34 PM
sqlite is a rdbms sec^nd
14:34 PM
sec^nd
ThomW: yeah... but beets isn't using it in a relational way
14:37 PM
ThomW
I think it is
14:37 PM
exploring the schema
14:37 PM
that it doesn't have REFERENCES ON doesn't really matter

14:44 PM
hmm replaygain is causing crashes with gstreamer0.10 on import
14:45 PM
while beet replaygain uses gstreamer1.0
14:45 PM
which is also weird
14:48 PM
14:51 PM
lazka
ThomW, do you have bpd enabled?
14:52 PM
ThomW greps config.yaml for bpd
14:52 PM
ThomW
nope
14:52 PM
oh, and if I remove 'replaygain' from plugins import does work
14:53 PM
and I already installed python-gst* from apt
14:53 PM
ThomW is on debian testing
14:59 PM
lazka
because loading both 0.10 and 1.0 in the same process doesn't work / crashes (not sure how beets handles plugins..)
15:08 PM
r04r
ive noticed i think that beets used both 0.10 and 1.0. i could be wrong though. I think the replaygain and chromaprint use different versions
15:08 PM
the chromaprint page tells you to install python-gst0.10-dev and replaygain mentions gstreamer 1.0
15:11 PM
lazka
ah indeed, beets -> chroma -> pyacoustid -> audioread -> gst0.10
15:13 PM
r04r
i ran into that the other day when trying to use replaygain, but instead opted to have it use mp3gain instead of gstreamer

i have the same problem actually
21:52 PM
i have gst1 and plugins-good installed, and whenever i try to use it as backend for replaygain, it can't initialize and i verbose mode doesn't provide much additional insight
