I have beets running on an only single core machine

does anyone have suggestions on how to speed her up?

right now the only thing I am trying to do is let to do as much automagically as possible

I am only using the inline, chroma, scrub and duplicates

it will speed up a lot if you disable chroma.

right now it is skipping a lot of files

so, i was assuming that chroma was the main source for the decision for importing or skipping

it might be helping some. you can make a first pass without it anyway and it will go faster and clear some files, so it doesn't have to go through all of them with chroma.

can you think of any other gui's to interface with the acoustid database/server

do you have any suggestions for reading to try to start hacking at beats myself?

MaynardWaters: there is only so much speed on a single core machine, I don't think you can gain much more.

If you know your python well, there might be a way to tweak some things

when importing I get this error: Error: No such file or directory while moving '/real/path/folder.jpg' to '/real/path/cover.jpg'

running 'beet fetchart' finds album art..

this has been working at some point.. :-)

any ideas/suggestions how to troubleshoot this further?

MaynardWaters: regarding performance, the best thing you can do is disable chroma -- fingerprinting is quite slow

but if you're asking about how to make it ask you fewer questions, you might try tweaking the thresholds in the config file (see the docs)

or, there's always letting it run ahead for a while and coming back to answer questions all at once

magnulu: can you expand with a few more details? does this happen every time when trying to import the album in question? and does the folder.jpg file in fact exist?

it seems to happen on all imports, regardless of a folder.jpg existing or not..

let me try some things..

ok, the error does not occur if I point beet to the folder containing the album, but it does occur if I point it to the parent directory

it does not occur if I disable the clutter option in config

so my guess is that it removes folder.jpg as clutter (*.jpg defined as clutter) before it has the chance to copy it?)
