sickill: I was mostly interested in how the email as login system worked out in practice
what pain points does it have if any and is sending all those emails in a timely fasion hard?
(I used to work on a mass email marketing system so I'm aware of the pains of spam filters and laws)
I love the idea of not storing username/password combos
just authenticate users to their email address and then use that

creationix: in practice it works fine. Most people love it. For sending email I use Mailgun and they deliver it in timely fashion, usually in few seconds. There were people who get the email after 10 or 20 minutes (one or two people), and this was a problem with their email service provider.
