any opinions on which replaygain backend is most accurate?
watsonalgas has quit
OK, now I'll just settle for which replaygain works on OSX and handles both AIFF and FLAC…
:)
none of them worked for me.

I want to import an album as is, no auto tagging and import the files where they are in the file system.
shouldn't "beet import -AC ." work?

NOTICE: [beets] randybias opened issue #1296: incremental import confused by conversion process https://github.com/sampsyo/beets/issues/1296
randybias
before I try it, has anyone got experience running an incremental import on a subdirectory of the directory you previously did an incremental import on?
for example, pass 1, I did incremental import on foo/ which contains bar/ and baz/. pass 2 I try to incremental import foo/bar/ ; does the right thing happen?
I think it's related to this, which is what I got on the last pass with the same album: http://pastebin.com/SU6sNyBC
Freso
sampsyo: We could do with a "duplicate" GitHub issue label. :)
(I don't think "mere contributors" have access to defining new issue labels. But maybe we do?)

Freso: sure! I also don't know whether you can do that, but I can certainly create one.
I typically haven't worried about labels for closed issues, which is why we don't have one like that yet.
Freso
I like labels. :p
sampsyo
Freso: Which color should it be? :)
Freso
Black!
Transparent!
I don't know. Black might be a good option.
sampsyo
Done! Black it is.
Freso
Anyway, I think labels on closed issue have virtue in Future People™ being able to see at a glance why an issue is closed if it's e.g., "wontfix", "duplicate", etc.
sampsyo
Yeah, you're totally right. I just haven't gotten my act together to start doing it yet.
Freso
:)

sampsyo: you are doing an awesome job...beets does a difficult job very well

With the exception of Headphones, which has made the questionable decision to vendor beets…

"vendor" ?

derwin: i am not sure what you mean by "library"...are there other catalogs using the musicbrainz schema?
how do people deal with private, tagged, recordings which are not in MB?
Freso
chrisb: Import "as-is".
chrisb
Freso: thanks..is there a way to specify in config.yaml that a particular directory will be 'as-is" or to read a tag to trigger 'as-is
Freso
No clue.
sampsyo
("vendor" as verb: include source with distribution, in downstream repository, rather than taking a dependency)
Freso
You can define your own "tag" and use that to sort by, FWIW.
sampsyo
There is not a way to trigger as-is automatically based on tags, but that would not be a difficult bespoke plugin to write!
Freso
Maybe it's possible to sort based on whether or not an imported recording has MBIDs?
