elGALLO
remotely vnc for this, generally 16 flax is understood as 44
-
24 is rarer so I prefer to differentiate
-
bens218
i want to differentiate because of conversion to my DAP
-
elGALLO
Ah so sunce its python it doesnt know what $samplerste it and has to read it as a string
-
bens218
using different conversion settings
-
beets will read it, i use 'beet convert -f custom-format samplerate:96000'
-
i just can't use the -a switch with convert
-
Freso
Because $samplerate is file specific. An album could easily be mix of different samplerates. Or even different formats.
-
Freso has downloaded some official releases that were a mix of WAV, MP3, and WMAs...
-
bens218
yea i know that, where it becomes an issue for me is when i want the convert plugin to copy album art
-
it only does this with -a switch, otherwise i have to embded album art into every converted file
-
time to clock out for the day, take care

does beets need to be run as root?
-
jrobeson
no
-
you should likely never run beets as root
-
people often install beets as root (via pip or their package manager), bu it should never been run like that
-
Guest56994
if I don't run it with sudo I get an error that looks to be with the discogs plugin
-
jrobeson
do you evne have that plugin turned on?
-
if so, try it without the plugin. see if it works
-
then put the error message on a pastebin
-
Guest56994
-
runs with discogs disabled
-
should also mention that I am running this under a debian chroot install on my synology
-
i've got the discogs-client package installed
-
jrobeson
that probably has something to do with it
-
you need to upgrade your requests package
-
the debian version of requests is too old
-
so install a new one with pip
-
uggh debian.. stop ruining my life :(
-
Guest56994
: / sorry bro
-
jrobeson
the problem is debian
-
debian is toooo oooollldddd
-
so get a newer version of requests and hopefully it'll work
-
Guest56994
i'll give that a shot
-
jrobeson
this is exactly where debian's oldness is really a problem though. when things change on remote end like various internet services
-
usually it works out ok.. but not in those cases
-
Guest56994
yea that makes sense
-
requests was a super outdated version
-
updated and looks to be working as expected
-
jrobeson
what version was it?
-
Guest56994
2.12.2
-
updated to 2.4.3
-
jrobeson
I"m gonna file a bug, now that I know which version is in debian
-
Guest24796, how did you update it exacdtly? via pip?
-
Guest56994
yea
-
pip install requests --upgrade
-
Guest24796
wrong guest ping there
-
:P
-
Guest56994
haha
-
downfall of using the freenode web irc

Hi music geeks,
-
I need good configuration scheme for beets.
-
Right now as per my config musicbrainz picard is detecting more accurately than beets.
-
any solution to meet the requirements ?
-

-
jrobeson

Mowgli: did you try acoustid a try?
-
Using the chroma plugin
-
Mowgli
I configured it.
-
nathdwek
And what differences in accuracy do you notice compared to picard?
-
Mowgli
The same library set I used for picard and beets.
-
jrobeson
that's not an answer.
-
also you're assuming that all of us have used picard.
-
I've never used it
-
Mowgli
picard detects 26 albums beets detects 19 only
-
jrobeson
beets has never not detected an album that wasn't in musicbrainz, so I definitely don't have a similiar experience
-
nathdwek
So there are 7 albums for which beets doesn't have a single clue?
-
Mowgli
yeah,
-
nathdwek
or you mean there are 7 albums where there is no single best choice, but 2-4 90+ matches?
-
Mowgli
@nathdwek: no single best choice
-
jrobeson
please start getting more specific
-
nathdwek
Well then that shouldn't be a problem right?
-
I mean just choose that one that seems right, and move on
-
Mowgli
jrobeson: It's a graphical user interface and automatic music tagger from musicbrainz
