Is there anything out there that is good for profiling a python app engine app? I'd like to see more than what appstats has to offer for RPC.

Trii: mmm... not really. you can profile your local code like unit tests or in the dev server, but that only works with pure cpu bounded code, basically

grey right. that's what I thought but I didn't know if there was another magic wsgi middleware out there people were using.

I think some frameworks have stuff built in that can profile the framework level, but imo appstats should already show you anything they'll tell you. 99% of the time you should be I/O bound anyways

this only profiles RPCs obviously..

if you want to profile your actual code you have to use cprofile

in my experience it is best to just do that part locally for bits you want to optimize

Is there any way to lock down an appengine deployment by ip address? In particular, I would like only other GCE machines to be able to reach it.
